Half Priced Deception

Security means we invest tax money in weapons while you remain ignorant and hungry. You see the truth is we oven bake your perception and let your taste buds tell you it’s nothing but your own creation.  You see if I told you of my intellectual capacity you would consider me vain, so you were taught to think because wisdom to the oppressor signals the coming pain. You would rather praise a black man for singing offensiveness that contaminates your children’s brain, or glamorise a woman for exposing her soft tissue. Apparently that is the definition of liberty; but if a woman covers her beauty it is an abomination that causes an issue. You see the young must not be educated, because if they are who do you think would be the target if they retaliated. To control the masses the mentality must be eliminated so even those who strive to be educated must study something we have doctored. The fluoride in the water and the multitude of drugs on the market will keep the rest of the...

Falsehood Love

I always hear the proclamation of affection, Somalia, Somalia everyone claims to love her, yet once you take a look at her, withered is her frame and structure, so bad is her vital signs that if you were fortunate to know her from way back, you would struggle to recognise her, hopeless her and her children, destitute and hunger ridden. Like a plague victim she shunned, as her touch is diseased, only the blood of the innocent appeases her soil, yet we talk and talk while the land continues to rot and spoil, our fondness only resonates in our throats, bleating ignorance and foolishness like wild mountain goats, clashing heads for the sake of short lived bravado, while the future generations of our people live and grow under the devil’s shadow. So let the truth be told and let me share with you what my chest refuses to hold, my people are intelligent and bold, yet religion, land and culture so cheaply we have sold, the educated seek disconnection, the ignorant seek further dest...

But we can only change things from the inside

I pack my bags again this weekend; I have always enjoyed traveling because of one important factor. It’s never been about the bustling airports or the usual hype that comes with such a journey. On the contrary the whole business of travelling in today’s heightened security checks has been somewhat unpleasant to me. I seem to fit all the wrong descriptions, leading to my extra scrutiny. At first I used to be offended, eventually I accepted that in many ways it ended up giving me peace of mind. Traveling has been one of the biggest self-educational mediums in my life. To see and witness different cultures and places so distinctive to mine has by far trumped any other experience in my life. This weekend I travel back to London after almost 10 months in Africa, this journey like all others challenged my way of contemplation on different aspects. The conclusion thus far riddled my senses; I finally understood how naïve my peers and I have been for so long. Today without hesitation I c...

Time for Africans to believe in Africa

You might call me a pessimist, sceptic or any other noun used to describe the nature i project in my writings, especially in my poetry. At times even I may agree with such statements but that would be relative, with respect to the given topic at hand. As all grown ups will concur the sun does not always shine, the same applies to the world we live in. What i am trying to say is that some degree of pessimism is always healthy. In this day and age it seems that asking questions is no longer considered a learning process, the slave must accept what the democratically elected kings and queens of our humble peasant societies ask us too. That might be a far-fetched illustration of our advanced and sophisticated societies, or maybe it is as simple as that. Maybe we are to domesticate or to engrossed in our numerous handheld technologies or deafened by huge monstrous headphones to realise the problems faced by our local communities. Whatever way you...

Self Inflicted Wounds

I will tell you this and this is of my own opinion. Whether to have you in agreement or in opposition is really not my required objective. Nor have you to my thoughts offering submission, such is the nature of the day that man bends his will in obedience to any, even more to his antagonist. A blade to yourself must surely be a matter of concern, if not to you then to the one closest in kinship you turn. If you had a choice to watch yourself in the flames of Africa’s hatred burn, would wisdom of its pain be not a sure lesson to learn? From the mistakes of the past has knowledge not been derived?  Do the blisters and charred flesh offer no wisdom in return? When did self-loathing become fashionable, selling your heritage, religion and worth in exchanged for your initiation as a creditable slave? In small gatherings of peer exchange, we used to compile guilt of such sale to our seniors. How feeble and pompous the notions of the newly beginners,as we no longer enslave only ou...
